Gowns&Graduations

The entire clan!

My little sister and the graduate!

The detailing is SICK.

What a winner.

Hallo! (Afrikaans) I haven't posted in a couple of days...shame on me! I've been working with my mother and a great team of ladies to set up for my brother's graduation! Goodness is he getting old! The graduates all looked fabulous in their red and white gowns. The ceremony was short&sweet...as they should be! I'm sure I'm not the only one attending various graduations and graduation parties. Such a fun and stressful time! Pictures 3-6 are close ups of my outfit for the evening. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that freakin' jacket! It's surprisingly comfortable and gurantees a few turned heads! I got mine off of Mod Cloth but I'm not entirely sure if they still have them in stock. Anyway, Happy Graduation season to all!

What the room looked like before we set up!

Guten Tag! So today I'm posting about my Graduation Soiree last night! It was an intimate group of about 30 of my closest friends and family. We danced, sang, drank, and ate LOTS of sushi! Seriously if you're in the Chicago area and are looking for a great place to go for sushi...go to SushiSamba. Their Yellow tail Tacos are to DIE for. All in all it was a fantastic night! I could bore you with stories but I'll just let the pictures do the talking! Enjoy!

Spots&Stripes

Hola! While I was running around finishing up last minute details for my soiree tonight (which you will see plenty of pictures of!) when I thought I'd post a picture of my nails today! These were super easy to do! I'll did was paint my nails black except for my ring finger white. Then I took a skinny nail brush and painted the white lines across the black painted nails. After I took a tooth pick dipped in black to put the spots on the white nail. Hope you like it! If any of you have nail are you would like featured send it my way! Have a fabulous day!

Newspaper Nails

These are all the rage right now! So quick, so easy, and so very impressive! First find a font/style of type on a newspaper you like. Cut small strips out of the news paper that are big enough to cover your nails. Shape and file your nails till they are just the way you like! Paint them with a base and 2 or more coats of color. Let them dry completely. Once they are dry pour a little bit of alcohol in a small glass dish. One finger at a time, dip your nail in the alcohol for 10-15 seconds. Quickly grab a piece of newspaper and firmly press it on your nail. You want to do this step fairly fast, if you press it on too long the nail polish will stick to the paper and come off. Roll your finger as you gently pull the news paper off the nail. AMAZING! The text from the paper sticks to your polish. Continue doing each finger until all your nails are covered in text. It might take a few tries to get this down, but once you get the hang of it...EASY!!

The BBC3 Scandal! *Gasp*

So there seems to be a few people who are confused about what happened on Sunday for the BBC3 Reading Live Feed...here's what went down...So Muse took the stage and I did some fan!girling by myself in front of my computer screen (embarrassing...) during their opener New Born. They then followed it by playing Bliss and I freaked out some more...and then they skipped to Uprising. Now don't get me wrong, I love me a good political rally but I along with the rest of the thousands of musers on twitter (follow me, @mowisted or don't...whatever) began to freak out when I realized that BBC3 skipped all of OOS! How dare they! Well musers just wouldn't take it! We single handedly TOOK OVER twitter with a total of 9 trends...First off was Plug In Baby followed by Space Dementia, Supermassive Black Hole, Time Is Running Out, Stockholm Syndrome, Undisclosed Desires, Knights Of Cydonia (because BBC3 called it Nights of Cydonia...?), OOS, and finally Muse. Soon after the twitter trend take over, musers began furiously tweeting #bbcreadingfest to complain about the OOS set. Now here's the kicker...due to the insanity of how musers destroyed twitter BBC3 came on saying that MUSE wanted them to cut out the OOS set from the feed because they didn't feel comfortable with it. Well I don't know about you but i scream blasphemy! Do they know Matthew Bellamy? He would never not feel comfortable with something he's playing at R&L. Who do they think they're kidding? Now watch Muse will actually come out and say that they really didn't want it shown and we will all feel increadibly ridiculous. Or maybe just I will...whatever.

What are your thoughts?! Let me know!

Origin of Symmetry Nails!

Just what it says! I decided to show some pride for R&L...let me know if you would like to see the products I used! Enjoy!

1. Apply your base coat
2. Two coats of whatever background color you find fitting for OOS!
3. Find a skinny brush bottle of black nail polish and make three straight lines to represent the poles
4. Use the same skinny black brush to finish off the OOS forks!

Very simple! Have fun with this!

The Wonderful Tom Kirk!

Two weeks ago I recieved the great pleasure of meeting the wonderful Tom Kirk. I thought I would take this time and share with you the story of how I accomplished this...It was a dark and stormy night when...Just kidding...here we go! I had just arrived at the venue where Muse would be performing (was lucky enough to drive behind the band and their police escorts but that's a different story for a different day!) and had just found the area where I was to be seated to photograph, video tape, and most of all enjoy the show! Our seats (myself and five other close friends) were on the right side all the way up to the stage right by the sound booth. As we were sitting waiting for the opening bands to come on I saw Mr. Kirk walk out from backstage and over to the sound booth so naturally my best friend Amanda called out his name and he stopped to chat with us. We told him it was a pleasure to meet him and asked if we could take a quick snapshot. He of course agreed! After some random chatter and a picture I asked him if he named his dog Charles after Charles Darwin...he laughed,  leaned in, and said "well, yes...everything i do is for Darwin!" I laughed, then he told me I asked a great questions, winked, and bid adieu. Soon after as we were dancing to the opening band's first song I decided to tweet Tom the picture. After I sent it he came back to the sound booth. He waved at us after we made eye contact with him at the booth and about 5 minutes later he tweeted me saying it was nice to meet us and then talked about his tea. He is such a gentleman! Not to mention very handsome in person! Anyway...the concert soon started after that and we danced and sang and took plenty of pictures for this here blog and our many other projects. After the concert we bolted out to beat the traffic and once again happend to drive behind the band (knew it was them due to the police escorts)! We were staying the night at a house about two minutes from the airport where they were departing from so we were lucky enough to see their plane leave. Was a really fantastic night all in all! They sounded amazing and we had a great time! Can't wait for them to pick up touring again!!

And if you read all that you deserve a serious pat on the back!!

My favourite from the concert!

NAILS! Union Jack!

If you didn't know...I am a huge fun of the British Culture so I decided how better to show my pride then to do the Union Jack on my nails! Was rather easy here's the steps to achieve this great look!
1. Apply your base coat
2. Two layers of a deep blue nail polish (I used Cerulean Seascape by Finger Paints)
3. Make a thick red cross covering your entire nail with a skinny bruhed red paint (I used Red by Stripe Rite)
4. Trace the edges of the cross with a skinny brushed white paint (I used White by Stripe Rite)
5. Make red diagonal lines with the red skinny brush to form an X under your exsisting cross
6. Trace the edges of the new X with the white skinny brush
7. Make any necessary touch-ups
8. Apply top coat!

GOOD LUCK!

Song Of The Day! (Nice N' Easy by Frank Sinatra)

Well here's my song of the day! How lovely is this? I don't want to write too much about it...it's simply wonderful. Take the time, sit out with an ice tea, and enjoy the musical stylings of the one and only Sinatra!

Ok it has been confirmed! @BingBellamy is having a contest to see who can design his new default pic! All you have to do is take the picture of the lovely Bing (or make your own from scratch that's cool too!) and play around with it adding fonts and little cartoons and what not! You can send me the designs and I'll post them on here if you so wish! Good Luck!
